FIRS begs sectors experiencing profit in pandemic to pay taxes

The Federal Inland Revenue Service The Federal Inland Revenue Service

The Federal Inland Revenue Service has begged a section of taxpayers who are experiencing boom in spite of the crunching pandemic to pay their taxes.

Executive Chairman of the FIRS, Muhammad Nami directed his request specifically to sectors like Telcos, Financial Institutions, e-Commerce, Supermarkets, and manufacturers of certain products who are experiencing a high volume of sales to promptly comply to this plea.

"In view of the above, I wish to specially make an appeal to corporate bodies in the sectors mentioned above to go the extra mile at this time to cooperate with us in making special arrangements to pay their taxes," Nami begged.

"As is currently obvious, the economic downturn that resulted from the global shutdown occasioned largely by the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to put pressure on revenue-generating agencies included the FIRS, thereby straining Governments to bridge budget funding gaps," the FIRS boss added.

Looking forward to a positive response from the well-performing sectors in this pandemic, Nami reassured all taxpayers that they will get the necessary support as directed by President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
