Federal Government staff are the biggest violators of the interstate travel ban, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said.

El-Rufai warned employees of the Federal Government and state governments not on essential duty to desist from breaking the ban on interstate travel.

He promised to turn them back and compel them to return to their points of departure.

Speaking in a meeting with state commissioners, he revealed that 50 travel ban violators had been quarantined for 14 days. However, he stressed he was not willing to offer the option of quarantine for people travelling illegally.

He advised the traveller to stay back where they are or risk being turned back.

"The KDSG will no longer offer the option of quarantine for persons travelling illegally. Federal and state regulations prohibit all non-essential travel. All persons are expected to stay put wherever they are.

"Such persons ought to set an example of compliance with regulations, including the nationwide prohibition of interstate travel imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

"FG vehicles, IDs and uniforms should not be used to violate state regulations or to assume immunity from them," the Governor said.
