The Federal Government has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians after it requested for a de-escalation of hostilities in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

In a statement, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, expressed his grave concern over the recent escalation of violence between Israel and Hamas.

The circle of violence and revenge that the present escalation has assumed, according to Ambassador Tuggar, only “served to perpetuate an unending cycle of pain and suffering for the civilian population, it consequently called for ceasefire in the interest of the vulnerable civilians."
