The Federal Government has considered another extension of the lockdown following the disregard of the laid down rules for social distancing, face masks and hand sanitisers.

Speaking during a briefing at the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said Nigerians actions in the past two days was really worrisome.

He noted that Nigerians were yet to come to terms with the deadly nature of COVID-19 pandemic.

"Nigerians are yet to come to terms with the deadly nature of COVID-19 pandemic and this gives us high concern and worry. Some of the areas of worries involve non-compliance with social distancing with the congregation for people in banks, disregard of carrying capacities in commercial vehicles and ill-advised interstate travels," Mustapha said.

Urging Nigerians to take their own safety more seriously, he asked residents to minimise large crowds, most especially. He also tasked the banks to improve their services by activating ATM cards remotely.

"Our safety is in our hands and I appeal to everyone to minimise the risk by avoiding infection by the virus. I advise Nigerians to be vigilant. I plead with Nigerians to be patient and schedule physical distancing at the banks. I encourage the banks to expand their services by validating ATM cards remotely. We ask the NURTW to educate the members on the violation of these guidelines," the SGF urged.

Going further he announced that the ban on all flights will be extended for four weeks, following the rising cases in the pandemic which is still being monitored.
