FG increases fee for international passport effective September 1

The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced an adjustment to the fees for Nigerian passports, effective September 1, 2025. In a move aimed at upholding the quality and integrity of the passport issuance process, the service revealed that the new fee structure will primarily affect applications made within Nigeria.

Specifically, applicants seeking a 32-page passport with a 5-year validity will now pay N100,000, while those applying for a 64-page passport with a 10-year validity will be charged N200,000. Meanwhile, Nigerians applying for passports from abroad will see no change in fees, with costs remaining at $150 for the 32-page and $230 for the 64-page options.

The Immigration Service emphasized its ongoing commitment to balancing quality service delivery with accessibility, ensuring that passport services remain available to all Nigerians. This fee review reflects the government's dedication to maintaining high standards while considering the needs of its citizens both locally and in the diaspora.
