The federal government has announced a ban on admitting candidates under the age of 18 into tertiary institutions.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, made this known during the 2024 policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday, July 18, 2024,
He stated that underage candidates should not be allowed entrance into any tertiary institution in the country.
“JAMB is hereby notified that there is now a ban on underaged students, those under the age of 18 into our tertiary institutions from this 2024 admissions,” Mamman said.
According to the minister, the Federal Government is considering adopting 18 years as the standard entry age for admission into universities.
