FCT police repel kidnapping attempt in Bwari

The FCT Police Command successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Guto village, an outskirt community in Bwari Area Council, during the early hours of 20th November 2025.

At approximately 01:10 a.m., the Command received a distress call indicating about 30 armed attackers had invaded the community aiming to abduct a resident and his family.

Responding promptly, the Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team, in collaboration with the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), mobilised to the scene. When the attackers saw the police team, they opened fire. The officers returned fire with greater force, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle. During the exchange, the police succeeded in neutralising two attackers, while the rest fled into the surrounding bushes and mountains for safety.

Tragically, one police officer was hit by a fatal gunshot during the confrontation and was rushed to Bwari General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. The Command mourns this loss, as the officer paid the highest price in the line of duty.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc., has deployed additional personnel to the community to reinforce security, and normalcy has since been restored. He also ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.
