The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, has lamented the increasing trend of men opting for a second wife when faced with minor marital issues.
This was as she questioned how people have now lost the will to fight for love and prevent ending up with broken homes.
She shared on X, "Lately, I’ve noticed more broken homes, and the new trend for men seems to be rushing into marrying a second wife. But what happened to patience, to sitting down and working things out for the sake of the children? Have we lost the will to fight for love, for peace, for family? It breaks my heart to see how quickly endurance and reconciliation are fading away. Families deserve more than a quick escape. But wait… is 'second wife' now the new iPhone that every man wants to upgrade to?"
Reacting, an X user, @heykaymovich, said, Well said, but sometimes, what’s broken can’t be fixed again. Most marriages these days are just for the pleasures, a fat bank account, that beautiful face with figure 8. True love is rare, and it can only be built and not found. It’s better to walk away than die in silence."
@E_Samchi24 said, "The society reeks of cultural decay, people don’t want to live, they’re desperate for survival. When culture was at its best, minds worked with caution and the mouth spoke in patience. Today? Those things are history. As a man, I will tell you, ma, some iPhones are better than women."
@DonatusOru69049 said, "When there is no background check made before marriage, issues are bound to happen. Some people are raised in love, while some are raised on survival; they both view things differently. Ethics needs to be introduced into our educational curriculum to correct some of these anomalies."
@felixwise said, "Sad reality. We have the wrong definition of marriage and it is affecting how we show up. There are no perfect marriages. Every marriage that is working today is a product of intentionality. How often do we sit with ourselves and introspect and deal with our blind spots?"
