Ex-Nigerian lawmaker collapses, dies after Eid prayer

A former member of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Ibrahim Idris, has been reported dead.

Mohammed who is the son of former Kogi Governor, Ibrahim Idris, was said to have died on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Abuja.

Mohammed Idris represented Ankpa,-Olamabo-Omala federal Constituency of Kogi at the lower chamber of the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011

According to reports, Mohammed slumped and died after the Eid prayer at his residence in Abuja.

As per the Islamic rites he has since been buried at the Gudu Cemetery after a funeral prayer. His burial was attended by a large crowd of grievers at the Abuja National Mosque.

The elder brother of the deceased, Abubakar Idris, confirmed the death to the press and expressed sadness over Muhammed’s death.

Abubakar said: “It’s true. He died this morning shortly after coming back to his residence after Eid prayers.

“He will be buried on Wednesday at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.”

Also, it has been reported that the Osolo of Isolo Kingdom in Lagos state, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, had died.

The chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olasoju Adebayo, confirmed his death in a statement on Wednesday, April 10.

According to Adebayo, Olushi 111 passed on Wednesday after returning home from the Eid al-Fitr prayer ground in the area.

It was said that the deceased would be buried by 4pm, same day according to Islamic rites.
