A former Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, has returned to the All Progressives Congress.

This is coming barely six days after he announced his resignation from the party.

The Punch gathered that Abdullateef withdrew his resignation from the party after meeting with the leaders of APC in Lagos.

Abdullateef confirmed his return to the party in a text message on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

When asked if he had returned to APC, he replied, “Yes,” without giving details.

It was gathered that the APC leaders had assured Abdullateef of their support for his “Iyepe 2023” movement, which had garnered large followership.

It was learnt that the party leaders, however, told the former commissioner to ensure that his movement works in unison with APC’s objectives.

Abdullateef had said his decision to resign was due to the rejection of his movement and governorship ambition by some “close leaders” he respected in the party.

The one-time lawmaker launched “Iyepe 2023” on last Tuesday, a movement he said would galvanise Lagosians to develop more interest in politics and curb voter apathy.

When contacted on the telephone, the Chairman of APC in Lagos, Mr Tunde Balogun, declined comments.

“No comment for now. I don’t have any comment on that for now, I am very sorry,” he told our correspondent.
