Nduka Ugabde, former assistant coach of Nigeria's U17 national team has applauded the individual talents of the present crop of U17 stars despite losing the final of the ongoing WAFU U17 tournament 3-2 to their Ivorian counterpart on Monday night.

Ugbade speaking in a chat with Brila.net said the team did a good job by keeping the scoreline respectable despite going down 3-0 at some point in the game.

The Golde Eaglets clawed their way back, scoring two at the tail end of the fixture.

He opined that qualifying for the AFCON U17 finals in Morocco means the team have achieved.

“From 3-0 to 3-2, wonderful performance. It’s not a bad outing actually, it was very possible for us to see that Nigeria is not lacking in talents but in modern Football talent is no longer enough. But having said this the team has tried a lot been able to achieve something at this level, qualifying for Morocco and at the end of the day getting to the finals of WAFU Zone B. I think we have achieved a lot.”
