Dr Reuben Abati, an on-air-personality has said that he is fine with everyone attempting to teach him English whenever he conducts an interview on the show.

The former spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan made this known on the Morning Show on Friday, May 19 as he discussed the trendy issues happening in Nigeria.

Recall that Ben Ayade, the governor of Cross Rivers State had chided the outgoing governor at the beginning of the week after Abati asked Ayade why he used the word "romance" to describe a pressing national issue.

Ayade in his response argued that the word "romance" used in the statement was merely a figure of speech and did not denote the word's true meaning.

He added that when he used the word "romance," he was referring to the emotions the APC attached to the problem and how they tackled it.

He said: "And that is the elegance of English. It is the arrogance and sarcasm and the extrapolation of how to use grammar. It does not mean romance in the nativistic method…”

A similar incident occurred on Thursday, May 19 when the factional chairman of the Labour Party made attempts to question Dr. Abati's command and use of English.

In his response, Abati said: "Yesterday we had Mr. Lamidi Apapa on this program, the factional chairman of the Labour Party. And he said I intend to appear in court today and he was trying to teach me English. Everyone comes here and they try to teach me English Language but that fine."
