Head coach of Guinea-Bissau Emiliano Té has disclosed the masterplan behind his side's dominant display against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, September 29.

The Wild Dogs stunned Nigeria 3-0 at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau to claim top spot in Group L.

Franculino Djú gave the Djurtus the lead on the quarter-hour mark to ensure the home side went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.

Mama Baldé scored after the break to give the home side a two-goal cushion before Álvaro Djaló sealed the win in stoppage time.

Speaking in his post-match reaction, Té emphasised the unique approach required for every game and the sense of belief regardless of the opponent.

“Every game has its own story. You need to play tactical football, create better scoring opportunities, and always believe that you can do more and better, regardless of the opponent.”

The former midfielder added that the victory against the Super Eagles underscores his side's progress as they look to continue in the same fashion in their upcoming matches.

“It represents a journey to reach the African Cup of Nations. The victory against Nigeria illustrates that the national team is performing effectively and shall continue to advance in forthcoming matches.”
