Evacuation of Nigerians from UAE, UK, USA, others to begins this week - NIDCOM

The planned evacuation of Nigerians abroad over the coronavirus pandemic will begin this week.

This is according to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.

"Planned evacuation of Nigerians begins from this week. UAE. UK. USA etc All applicants should please check with the various missions for updates and protocols to abide by. May the Lord heal the world", she tweeted.

She added, "As the Minister of Foreign Affairs had earlier explained, will be in batches. There are over 3000 applications from about 75 countries. You will get an update from the Nigerian mission in India".

The evacuation was planned by the Federal Government in April after some Nigerians abroad asked to be brought back to the country over the pandemic.

COVID-19 tests have since been carried out on the Nigerians who expressed interest to be evacuation as part of the conditions for eligibility.
