Human Rights activist and #EndSARS protester, Ms. Dabira Adeyinka revealed that she should have been dead but for a protester who shielded her from a bullet that would have killed her.

According to Ms. Adeyinka, the protester died on the spot after he was hit on the "side".

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, October 20, she said they intend to hold the Tinubu-led administration for the death of the protesters who lost their lives.

"I almost got killed so if I had died no one would be speaking for me which means that is my end and that is my parent's loss. So some people died, who ordered the shooting, do we no longer have the right to protest about the country we call our own?" she asked.

"When we talk about documenting history, we will continue to remember and make sure justice is served. And we expect that this administration will attend to this matter."

"People died all across Lagos, we are not just talking about Lekki Tollgate, I carried over five to six bodies. Someone took my bullet and died on the spot. He covered me and took the bullet in his side and he died on the spot."

In October 2020, young people across Nigeria took to the streets calling for disbanding an abusive police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and for ending brutality in a movement tagged #EndSARS.

Security forces responded with excessive force, including gunfire, which resulted in death and serious injuries.
