End SARS: US, EU, Canada told to place sanctions on Buhari govt over Lekki killings

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari government and security forces of sponsoring armed thugs attacking peaceful #EndSARS protesters.

There are emerging video evidence of attacks on peaceful protesters and HURIWA is asking the United States government to designate the Buhari government as a State sponsor of terror and take steps to stop the attacks against civilian protesters.

Besides, the Rights group, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, said it was suspending forthwith all active partnership with the current hierarchy of the Nigerian Army until all those who opened fire at civilian protesters in Lekki Lagos State and those who funded the armed attacks are arrested, prosecuted and punished.

HURIWA further asked the USA, Canada, UK and EU to impose travel ban on President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and all state officials who are heading all the segment of the security forces for colluding and funding terror attacks against civilian protesters.

DAILY POST reported that End SARS protesters at the Lekki ground came under heavy fire by the military on Tuesday.

Bullets fired by security operatives hit some persons and at least two persons have been confirmed dead by the police while many were injured

Voices in a viral footage blamed the shootings on soldiers.

Gunshots rented the air Tuesday night hours after the commencement of a 24-hour curfew declared by the Lagos State government.

Security agents moved into Lekki at about 6:30pm.
