Angry Nigerians who were protesting against the shooting of peaceful protesters at Lekki tollgate on Tuesday, October 20 filed at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York to register their displeasure.

Carrying placards while they wrapped themselves with the Nigerian flag, the protesters sang the national anthem as they made their way to the UN office.

The shooting of the unarmed and peaceful protesters has been condemned by the European Union, Africa Union, ECOWAS, and the United Nations.

Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson followed the path of U.S. Democrats Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden who condemned the shooting hours earlier. Nigerian celebrities including Davido, Wizkid, Rude Boy (P-Square) also condemned the act.

Originally meant to be a peaceful protest aimed at addressing the constant harassment, extortion, bullying, and sometimes the extrajudicial killings of young Nigerians by personnel of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the events of Tuesday could drive the country into chaos.

Meanwhile, Daily Post reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the National Security Council Meeting, NSC, in Abuja.

Bashir Ahmed, the President’s personal assistant on new media, made this known via his Twitter account, stating that the meeting was held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.

According to him, in the meeting were the VP, SGF, COS, Defence Minister, the Service Chiefs, the IG of Police, and other heads of security agencies.
