The Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in the state to embrace skill acquisition and be innovative as graduates.

Governor Adeleke also charged the Corps members to become solution providers to human needs and problems.

He gave this advice in his address at the swearing in and official opening ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream II orientation course at the NYSC orientation camp, Ede.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youths Affairs, Moshood Olagunju, Adeleke called on the Corps members to tow the path of diligence, hard work and industry.

In his words, “Embrace skills acquisition and entrepreneurship. Be creative and innovative as graduates. Do not only think of consuming but rather begin to think of what you can produce or offer as a solution to human needs and problems.

“Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and toll the path of diligence, hardwork and industry: which is the key to lasting success and prosperity.”

The Governor also called on the corps members to stay true to the national pledge and oath of allegiance they swore to before witnesses and never to take laws into their hands.

“Never take laws into your hands but always channel your grievances in a civilised and constitutionally acceptable way. Remember that the younger generation looks up to you as her role model. Therefore, shun any action capable of misinforming and misleading these young ones.”

Earlier, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim revealed that a total of 1,808 corps members had registered so far.

Agbor maintained that the NYSC is an opportunity for self development and actualisation, as well as contribution to national development on the platform of selfless service.

In his words, “The NYSC scheme was created to raise a set of disciplined, detribalised and patriotic youths who would be posted to serve in States and communities other than their State of Origin and also seek employment opportunities outside their States of Origin, thereby fostering national unity and integration
