Nigerians have taken Twitter to react to the news of the social media giant being sold to the richest man in the world, Elon Musk for a sum of $44 billion.

This was announced by the social media platform on Monday, April 25, 2022, after days of negotiations between Musk and the Twitter board.

Musk had announced an offer to buy the social media platform on April 14, for $54.20 a share, or about $43billion.

The additional $1billion price tag is said to reflect the purchase of additional shares revealed by Twitter.

This deal means Twitter will now be taken private, ending its run on the stock market which began in 2013.

Reacting to this news, Nigerians took to social media to share their thoughts. Many are however, calling on the richest man to consider purchasing Nigeria.

According to the tweets, Nigeria would be better off in the hands of the richest man in the world than be governed by its 'greedy' leaders as they compare the amount used to purchase Twitter to the yearly budget of the country.
