Multiple reports claim the convoy of the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, was stoned during an African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign in Zaria.

The attack on the opposition party was also confirmed by political activist IG Wala, who condemned it in a Facebook post.

IG Wala wrote, "Opposition party ambushed in Zaria. No police presence, only thugs in operations! We condemn such an act and reject what the ruling party is serving Nigerians with as a teaser for 2027.

"Noted! State-sponsored thugs in Zaria were seen in action. So, is this what the ruling party in Kaduna and Nigeria is serving the opposition before 2027? Don't set this country ablaze because you're on that seat TODAY."

The alleged attack was also confirmed by social media users:

@HighChiefOkoro said, "Nasir El-Rufai was stoned and rejected by the Kaduna people in Zaria yesterday. This is a very huge disgrace and a warning sign to the Coalition that the people cannot be fooled. The Northerners are not gullible people, they will wait till 2031."

@zaMusbeyNe_ said, "This is what happened to Elrufa'i in Zaria yesterday. Nasiru Elrufa'i's tenure will always be remembered as a dark era in Kaduna State history. job losses, corruption, fake promises, poor governance, unnecessary demolitions, and crimes against humanity."

@BanjiComr said, "El-Rufai, Nigerians are not foolish. You can't become a saviour because you're two years out of office after eating govt money for over two decades. Northerners are not fools. Now, they have told you in plain language even in Zaria that "We No Dey Do, We No Like You".
