El-Rufai has never won election without political gladiator's influence - Bwala

Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala has accused former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai of having a delusion of grandeur for stating that President Bola Tinubu will come in a distant third in the 2027 presidential election.

El-Rufai made the claim when he appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme on Sunday.

According to the former governor, the condition of living under the Tinubu administration has not improved, which is the reason why he believes the President will fail in his re-election bid.

“Tinubu will be third in the 2027 election. I have done my maths and I can tell you Tinubu has no pathway to win. The worst case scenario is that there will not be any winner in the first ballot,” he said.

“Ask yourself, is your life better now under President Tinubu? There is even no pretense of good intentions. We are free to assess our government after two weeks.”

Reacting, Bwala reminded El-Rufai that he lacks political weight, stressing that the elections he managed to win were largely due to the influence of political gladiators.

Bwala shared on X, "Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s baseless claim that President Bola Tinubu will emerge a distant third in the 2027 presidential elections is what we call 'delusion of grandeur ' or 'grandiose delusions'.

"For the record, El-Rufai has never won an election without hanging on the shoulders of a political gladiator. Buhari’s vote made him governor and re-elected him. In 2023 elections, when he needed to show his popularity, APC lost Senate, House and presidential elections. He is suffering from 'political Father Time'."
