Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman got a goal and an assist for Atalanta to help them to a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman maintained his position in Atalanta’s starting lineup when they traveled to Frankfurt to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
He featured in a 3-4-3 formation, partnering Charles De Ketelaere and Gianluca Scamacca. The first half was pretty interesting, with both teams creating opportunities.
Lookman had a big chance in the 35th minute, but his effort could only rattle right post.
The Super Eagles star still got two chances to test the goalkeeper before the end of the half, but he failed to score.
In the second half, La Dea stepped up the ante and kept pushing for a goal, and they eventually got it in the 60th minute.
It was Lookman who came up clutch for Atalanta. He got on the end of a perfectly-weighted cross from De Ketelaere on the right and struck the ball on the volley with his weaker right foot.
The shot beat goalkeeper Michael Zetterer in Eintracht Frankfurt’s goal and rattled the net to make it 1-0.
Just two minutes later, Lookman turned provider. He received the ball from the middle of the pitch, sprinted forward, and laid a fine pass to Ederson, who sent a cheeky finish into Eintracht Frankfurt’s net to make it 2-0.
De Ketelaere scored the third for Atalanta in the 65th minutes, and that was just enough to wrap up the victory. After a brilliant 82 minutes of action, Lookman was taken off for Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The win takes La Dea to 10th in the UEFA Champions League standings, with 10 points after five games.
Their next game is against Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A. In the Champions League, they face Chelsea next at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Meanwhile, Lookman will be looking to build on his performance against Eintracht Frankfurt and continue racking up the goals and assists for Atalanta.
