Eight prophets drown in Zimbabwe in a competition to retrieve ‘holy stick’ from river

Report indicates that eight prophets have drowned in a river in Rushinga, Mashonaland Central province, Zimbabwe.

The incident occurred during a ceremony on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Mazowe River.

According to reports, the prophets were competing to retrieve a ‘holy stick’ from the deep waters of the river.

It was gathered that the ceremony was to select a Baptist.

Confirming the report, the provincial development coordinator for Mashonaland Central Province, Timothy Maregere, stated that the bodies of the prophet has been retrieved.

"The group consisted of 10 'prophets' and only two survived," Maregere said.

Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo, on Sunday, named the deceased as follows;
