Muhammadu Abdullahi popularly known as Father DMW is an online comedian with a following of 474,000 on Instagram.

He talks about his early childhood memories, the highlights of his career and his relationship with Ugandan model, Eva Apio.

First we would like to know about your background. And your earliest childhood memories?

Nothing much to say, than telling you it wasn’t easy growing up in a poor family background and still fighting everyday to become who you want to be. I will say God gave me grace that I myself couldn’t imagine. Memories are so tearing but we thank Allah all is working now and I know he won’t let me fall.

What led to the Borno to Lagos migration?

Boko Haram is the major thing that chased me to Lagos. During my secondary school days, I can remember Boko Haram coming to our school to burn the school and all the properties, which was very scary. This led me to run for my life and look for greener pastures. It was more like a movie to me.

How did you end up with Davido as one of his staff?

Grace and focus. I really knew that he is the one I needed to meet in order for my life to be better and I did everything possible to meet him. I was an okada rider when I met DAVIDO.

How did the nickname Father DMW come about?

It’s very funny. But I am sure people will be hearing this here for the first time. “Father” is not my name. Father is actually my elder brother’s name. It is because we look so much alike people started calling me Small father. Before I knew it, they threw the small in front of it and now I was left with Father. When I joined the 30 billion gang, people added DMW to my name.

What were the worst moments of being a bike rider?

The worst part of riding okada was the accidents and I am very grateful to God that he spared my life to see a moment like this coming to pass. It’s never easy being a bike rider. God just spares their lives- it’s not in their power.

Did you ever think you would be this famous?

No! I am sure as a human; no one knows his or her destination in life. I didn’t know a time will come in my life where the whole nation will be paying attention to me. And I am most grateful for a time like this.

You never talk about your grace to glory moment. How did your life change from being a bike rider to being famous?

It’s still more like a surprise to me. But All I can say is Allah is the greatest. All I did was walk up to DAVIDO that he should introduce me to Brodda shaggi and the rest is history. I knew I loved this and I followed it up with passion.

Do you have any regrets?

No regrets, but blessings.

Are you in love with Eva Apio?

(Smiles). Eva is my special bestie and she cares about me as well as I do about her

How did you meet her?

It all started as a crush. Remember that I usually post her picture before we even met on my story and tag her. I did not really know her then. I was even following her and she never followed me back, until one day she was live on Instagram, then I sent a request to chat her up. That’s all and the rest na story.

Would you like to marry her?

She is my spec, so if God permits I will surely say YES!

Is there anything about her you don't like?

Well, yet to find out for now.

What is the inspiration for your skits?

My stupidity, though I call it my creativity. I like to play a lot and majorly that’s one of the moments I am creative.

Who influenced your career more Davido or Zlatan?

Both of them. Davido brought me up from nobody to be somebody. He introduced me to Brodda shaggi who is also my role model. I can’t speak less about Zlatan, because he was the one who opened my Instagram page for me. He sponsored a giveaway for people to follow me. So, both of them have influenced me and are still doing it till now. I will say I am most grateful to both of them.

Would you still like to go to school?

Well, I will say yes and if I can’t go to school, I will surely get a special class in order to be the better version of myself. With the help of Allah, I know all will be well.

Do you miss home? Does the insurgency bother you?

I am worried every single day and time about my experience when I was back home and I am aware of what’s happening over there day and night. Still, I miss home, my family and friends.
