Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed his disappointment following Fulham's loss to Manchester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The Cityzens edged the Cottagers 5–4 in a thrilling encounter at Craven Cottage.
At some point in the game, the away side were ahead 5–1, but a spirited performance from the hosts helped reduce the deficit to just one after 90 minutes.
At 5–1, Iwobi scored to make it 5–2 before his Super Eagles compatriot, Samuel Chukwueze, added two more goals.
In his post-match interview, Iwobi expressed disappointment after his side failed to manage just a point after their brilliant second-half performance.
“I feel disappointed because we didn’t get anything out of the fighting spirit that we showed, but I think we have to take the positivity from the game,” Iwobi told the club’s official website.
“We showed that fighting spirit in the second half, but there’s nothing to show for it.
“The manager spoke to us at halftime, saying that one thing we can’t do is let our heads drop, no matter what happened, and also do it for the fans.
“And to be fair, they were with us till the last minute of the game, so we put on a show for the people watching, but it wasn’t the result we wanted.”
