Report indicates that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the Sirika, former minister of aviation for questioning.

Hadi Sirika was known to have worked under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The anti-graft agency has invited the former minister to answer questions on the supposed Nigeria Air aircraft.

Recall that shortly after Nigerians had celebrated the arrival of the aircraft, videos, evidences and pictures started to surface with claims that the said aircraft used for the static display was ‘borrowed’ from Ethiopian airlines.

This raised concerns among Nigerians as they wondered why a government would engage in such fraudulent activity and deceive its own citizens of floating a non-existing airline.

As a result, the former minister is expected to appear before the anti-graft agency within the week to respond to questions surrounding the launch of the Nigerian Air.

Spokesperson of the EFFC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the invite and said that the agency is currently investigating the incident.

Uwujaren said: “I can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation in that regard.”

Legit.ng reported that sources within the agency have said that the commission will probe the N3 billion sunk into the Nigeria Air project even though some stakeholders have consistently alleged that over N80 billion was spent on the project.

Few days to the end of Buhari’s tenure as President, Sirika announced the launching of Nigerian Air., although it was an Ethiopian airplane.

Hadi Sirika has been reported to be the second minister of former President Buhari’s administration that have been invited by the EFCC after, Pauline Tallen, a former minister of women's affairs.
