Arise Television Morning Show anchor, Dr Reuben Abati has lambasted President Bola Tinubu over his dated New Years Day address to the nation.

Speaking during the Morning Show's analysis program, Dr Abati queried Tinubu over his decision to omit the recent killings on Plateau State in his speech and address the 2024 appropriation bill which was passed on Saturday.

According to Abati, the speech read by the President is dated and was recorded before the President came to Lagos to celebrate the Yuletide.

He also slammed the managers of the President for their lazy job as they failed to update and change the recordings of the President’s speech.

He said;

“The speech delivered this morning was by the President is dated. It is too obvious that the speech was recorded before the President came to Lagos because the speech is not contemporaneous enough and that I think is a scandal. It shows gross indolence on the part of those people who mange the President.

You could see from that delivery since the speech was recorded in Abuja, I imagine that there are developments in the country.

The major developments would be the killings in Plateau that was conspicuously absent in that speech.

He may not have to go having sent a powerful delegation. But speak to Nigerians on New Year Day and not reflect his awareness and understanding of the killing on the Platea and considering the fact that only yesterday, five more persons were murdered in Boko’s Local Government Area, just shows and confirms how dated that speech is. And I put it now to the indolence of his managers because wherever the president is, there is enough facility to update speeches, to change recordings.

The other major issue is that on Saturday, the National Assembly of Nigeria passed the 2024 appropriation bill but the president failed to make reference in that speech.”
