Don't make Osun ungovernable for Governor Oyetola - Oyinlola warns Aregbesola

Aregbesola has been asked to allow Governor Oyetola to concentrate on his duties Aregbesola has been asked to allow Governor Oyetola to concentrate on his duties

A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has called on his successor and minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola not to disturb Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

There has been an alleged cold war between the minister and the governor with some media reports citing Aregbesola's eagerness to dictate to the governor as the genesis of the disagreement.

The tension between both former allies degenerated recently after by reports suggested that Aregbesola plans to hold a political programme parallel to Oyetola's second-anniversary celebrations on Friday, November 27.

Dabbling into the matter, Oyinlola asked Aregbesola to allow the governor to concentrate on his duties, saying he never troubled the minister when he succeeded him in office.

Prince Oyinlola, in a statement on Wednesday, November 25 said Aregbesola's explanation that he was coming to the state to engage with the people on the #EndSARS crisis as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari was not in order.

He, however, advised that the minister should push his event to another day so as not to heighten the political tension in the state.

Part of the statement read:

“It is necessary that I put my own experience on record.  I took over from Chief Bisi Akande in May 2003 and, I can say that throughout my almost eight years in government, and despite our political differences, Akande never gave me any problem.

“It is common knowledge that Mr Aregbesola took over from me, and, despite the circumstances of his coming to that office, I did not do anything to undermine his authority throughout his eight years in government.

“That is the spirit with which I appeal that the interior minister (Aregbesola) avoid doing anything that will suggest a plan to make the state ungovernable for Mr Oyetola.”

Meanwhile, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George has advised a former Osun governor, Chief Bisi Akande not to engage in a fruitless campaign of fulfilling Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's dream of governing Nigeria.

The PDP chieftain was reacting to the visit of some Tinubu's associates led by Chief Akande to President Buhari recently.

The visit was seen by many as an attempt to get the president's buy-in into Tinubu's presidential ambition.

George, a long-time rival of Tinubu, said the visit was unnecessary and out of desperation.
