Dispute over former Kano councilor shot, killed for allegedly box snatching

A former councilman Ibrahim Nakuzama for the Getso ward, was reportedly shot and killed for allegedly stealing voting boxes.

Security personnel are alleged to have shot and killed Nakuzama on Saturday, March 18, in Kano's Gwarzo local government area during the State's gubernatorial elections.

An acquaintance of the deceased, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was still reeling from the shock and was unable to provide any specifics about the occurrence.

It was learned that the deceased delivered refreshments to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) representatives earlier in the day at his polling units.

Those who knew him well denied that he was trying to steal voting boxes.

The deceased left behind two wives and six children.
