Senator Dino Melaye has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress over their failed promises in restoring Nigeria to prosperity.

The former federal lawmaker during an interview on Channels television Politics Today said that the APC led-government have failed Nigerians following the numerous issues bedeviling the country.

Lamenting at the rate of insecurity in the country, Dino noted that currently citizens are struggling to survive, refusing to travel for fear of being kidnapped and in some cases murdered, citing the cases of the Owo Catholic Church massacre and the Kaduna-train attack.

Comparing the present Nigeria to Sudan and Liberia, Dino was of the view that the failure of the federal government is at all levels including the security institutions who are meant to protect the lives of the people.

He appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to return Nigeria to the way it was in 2014 when food prices were cheaper, the exchange rate was at a minimum, banditry and Boko Haram were tamed.

His words;

"We are living in perilous times... there is confusion in the land, this country has never been divided as it is today, not even in the civil war were we this divided, you cannot be sure where your next meal is coming from, the roads are not safe, even this days you're in your home and people will come and abduct you from your own homes, our kids, our friends, our family members are somewhere abducted, no story about them, and no effort by government for them to regain their freedom.

"We are in the situation that is near to surrendering to God Almighty alone. We have government without governance, we are in a democracy where the president has lost control, the security institutions are not in anyway showing any drive towards ameliorating the situation. We are in a comatose situation. Nigeria is at the brim. We've never had leadership failure like this, ever, not even in Sudan or Liberia do they have this quantum of leadership failure and it is at all levels.

"The APC have failed Nigerians, the APC have invited chaos, insecurity, kidnapping, banditry, We are just in a sorry state as a nation.

"It was not this escalated before now. It was almost been tamed. If there is hope then we will be living on hope but as I speak to you there is no hope. The situation gets messier on daily basis. The figure gets higher on daily basis.

"Today there is no security and welfare, we are in a situation where the only thing you hear from your presidents is I'm not aware or you say I condemn.

"I appeal to Buhari to take us back to 2014 and I'm sure Nigerians will celebrate him. Take us back to the situation where my ticket from Abuja to Lagos economy is N23,000 but today its N80,000, Where a loaf of bread was N20 but now its N600. I want to go back there. Take me back to 2014 where a liter of diesel will cost me only N180 now I'm buying diesel for N850, take me back where the house rent I pay for my staff and my people is like N200 percent today, Take me back to where I'm more secured and I could travel by road and where banditry and Boko Haram were primarily within the enclave of the North East between Yobe and Borno.
There is no part of this country that is safe today. Take us back to that time. Nothing APC met that today its better. Take us back to where a dollar was N80 per dollar but today I'm buying a dollar for over N600," he said.

The former member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district described flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu as a baby weight when the host, Seun Okinbaloye asked him whether or not the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar is afraid of Bola Tinubu.

He added that Tinubu is no match for Atiku "politically, mentally, medically, socially, even religiously".

"That is ridiculous, funny, for us in the PDP we've advised Atiku to put together his acceptance speech because he's the next president of the federal republic of Nigeria. Bola Tinubu is no match in anyway. Bola Tinubu is a baby weight compared to Atiku Abubakar in all ramifications, politically, mentally, medically, socially, even religiously. Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar in terms of political popularity they are not on the same page."

Both flagbearers of the two major political parties in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu are contesting the 2023 general elections alongside other candidates to become the next president of Nigeria.

Whiles campaigning for Atiku, Dino described him as a candidate who is physically fit, mentally accurate and administratively sagacious.

"The only solution to our problems is Atiku Abubakar who is the flagbearer of the PDP. You have the flagbearer of the APC who cannot even lift a flag. That is not what Nigerians are voting for. Atiku never needed assistance to lift the flag. Bola Tinubu needed the assistance of the national chairman and the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. Even with that assistance, the flagbearer could not lift the flag.

Our candidate in not only intellectually mobile, he is physically fit, mentally accurate and administratively sagacious that is Atiku Abubakar for you," Dino stated.
