Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries has urged northern Christians to buy walking sticks to defend themselves against jihadist attacks perpetrated wth AK-47 rifles.
According to him, that is better than just relying on prayers alone while assailants are heavily armed.
Ibiyeomie gave the advice while delivering a sermon to his congregation at his Port Harcourt church, as seen in a video on X.
Referencing the Bible, he said, "Peter was carrying a sword. Why was he carrying a sword? They were carrying swords because they knew some people would trouble them. He didn't borrow a sword to cut that man's ear. It was the sword he was carrying.
"While you pray, carry walking stick. Don't do church like that. Peter carried a sword. That was the thing they used at that time; there was no walking stick.
"Everybody in the northern churches, go and buy walking stick. When they say they want to attack you, come out. This nonsense of attacking churches will stop. When they come, you fire back."
He urged Northern Christians to learn from Israel instead of allowing themselves to be killed.

If you don't know what 'walking stick' means, ask a Port Harcourt person close to you. pic.twitter.com/WzRicrnh1f
