Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay close attention to the upcoming Osun State governorship election.

In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Davido expressed concern about growing political tension in the state and the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process.

Addressing Trump directly, he wrote: “President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.”

Davido urged the United States and the international community to closely monitor the election and called on relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that every vote is respected.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he added.

The appeal comes just days before Osun goes to the polls on August 15 to elect its governor.

Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform, with the election featuring a major contest against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and other candidates.

Davido has been actively involved in his uncle’s re-election campaign. In May, he announced that he was putting his music career on hold for two months to campaign for Adeleke, saying he believed his uncle had more work to do in the state.

Davido has previously urged voters and political actors to reject violence and intimidation as the election approaches.
