Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote, was seen weeping as he paid tribute to the late Access Bank boss, Herbert Wigwe who died on February 9, 2024 in a helicopter crash.

Recall that Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, son Chizi, and former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbajo, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in California, United States, less than a month ago.

Speaking during a night of tribute titled 'Celebrating Herbert Wigwe - A Professional Legacy' held in Lagos on Monday, March 5, 2024, Dangote announced the naming of his largest road network to Dangote Refinery after the late founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Holdings, Herbert Wigwe.

The Nigerian business magnate and Africa's richest man, in his condolence speech, noted that his decision to immortalize Wigwe was in recognition of his visionary leadership and transformative impact.

"Herbert was a visionary, role model, and perfectionist who gave much of himself. He is no longer here with us, but his transformative strides are seen throughout our economic landscape and social milieu.

"I am proud to name him my devoted friend, mentee, and brother.

"Finding another Herbert is difficult; I owe him eternal gratitude.

"Although he never joined the military line, he can be considered a soldier of courage and distinction.

"To immortalize my beloved friend, brother, and mentee, I have decided to name our major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometers, the biggest road will be named Herbert Wigwe," Dangote said.
