Dangote asking workers not to join NUPENG affront to Nigerian constitution – Afolabi

National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, Olawale Afolabi, has faulted the chairman of Dangote group, Aliko Dangote for not allowing his petroleum refinery workers to join the union, describing it as an affront to the Nigerian constitution.

Afolabi made this remark on Friday, while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television.
“Nigerians have been enjoying regular supply of petroleum products, so it’s our duty to serve Nigerians, and we’ve been doing it for years, but suddenly somebody came around and said he doesn’t want these members to be unionized.

“We’ve been asking him to even unionize, to allow us to unionize those refinery workers. They’ve been resisting us.

“They don’t want the workers to have any voice or representation while serving.

“Tanker drivers travel night and day to serve, and suddenly they are being discarded,” Afolabi said.
