Danger as fresh plot to stop Tinubu's inauguration revealed

The Department of State Service (DSS) has announced that a plot to distabilise the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu on Monday, May 29, has been uncovered.

This was revealed in a statement shared on its Twitter handle on Thursday, May 25 by the secret police’s spokesman, Peter Afunaya.

The secret police warned the general public to be wary and avoid the venue on Monday.

It also warned the civil society organisations and the media to strictly adhere to the security and civil guidelines given at the inauguration.
The statement reads in part:

“The Service is, however, aware of plans by subversive elements to disrupt the programmes in parts of the country. The aim is to undermine security agencies’ efforts at ensuring peaceful ceremonies as well as creating panic and fear among members of the public."

President-elect Bola Tinubu will on May 29, be sworn-in having being declared winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Following the declaration, some opposition parties including Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party have headed to court to contest the outcome of the election.

The presidential election petition is set to begin on Tuesday, May 30.
