Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said he has no plan to contest Lagos State governorship.

Gbajabiamila, the lawmaker representing Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, said this in an interview aired on Channels TV on Tuesday.

He said, “I don’t want distractions. I am working as the Speaker of the House of Representatives with a lot of responsibilities on my shoulder right now. Any other thing will be a distraction. As for Lagos State governorship, I have not even thought about it. The present governor is doing a good job.”

Gbajabiamila, who also spoke on the Petroleum Industry Act explained that those who opposed the Act were concerned about only one provision in the document.“We cannot use one provision to discredit the whole 400-section Act that took 20 years.”

“About 90 per cent of the opposition are from a particular part of Nigeria, and they are the oil-producing part of Nigeria. What they are doing is representing the interest of their people. They are doing the right thing,” he said.
