The Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, issued an interim order on Friday to halt the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police from enforcing the new tinted glass permit regulation for vehicle owners. The court urged both parties to maintain the current state of affairs and adhere to judicial processes until the case is fully resolved.
This directive was handed down as proceedings commenced for Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025, initiated by legal practitioner John Aikpokpo-Martins against the IGP and the Police Force. The petitioner challenged the legality of the recently introduced enforcement of the tinted permit rules.
Senior Advocate Kunle Edun, SAN, who led the legal team representing Aikpokpo-Martins, confirmed the court order, emphasising its importance in safeguarding the rule of law while the substantive issues are still under consideration. The ruling marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal scrutiny of the new enforcement policy.
