Court orders DSS to produce detained Igboho’s aides

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to present the 12 detained associates of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, before it on July 29. 

According to nannews.ng, Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order after Counsel to the applicants, Pelumi Olajengbesi, moved the ex-parte motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/647/2021 dated July 7 and filed July 8. 

Egwuatu also asked the Nigeria’s secret police to make themselves available to the court and present justification why the applicants should not be granted bail. 

The judge also granted the plea of the applicant, through the affidavit of urgency filed, on why the matter should be heard expeditiously irrespective of the imminent court vacation. 

Recall that the some associates of Sunday Igboho were arrested in his Ibadan residence after DSS raided the house on July 1, 2021.

It was also revealed that the DSS killed two of the associates during the raid. However Igboho was said to have escaped.

Some arms were retrieved at the residence and has since been declared wanted by the security operatives.
