Council of Yoruba chiefs in Ghana elect new leader

Council of Yoruba chiefs in Ghana unanimously elected HRM Oba chief Hamza Peregrino Brimoh VIII, Oba Yoruba of Greater Accra as a new chairman of the council of Yoruba chiefs on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at their maiden meeting in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Terms of Reference was not determined for his stewardship, which may be subjected to rotational bases in the next meeting.

The 13 member council of Oba Yoruba's in Ghana also unanimously nullified the unilateral decision of a self-appointed as Oba Yoruba of Ghana which is now null and void.

Another concerning matter was raised by the council of Yoruba Oba's which calls for nullification of the title's created by Oba Yoruba of Greater Accra HRM Oba Hamza Peregrino Brimoh cabinet chiefs referring to them as awon "Oloye of Ghana". It was agreed by all to nullified those tittles. No more national chiefs.

However, during the said meeting the council of Yoruba chiefs in Ghana unanimously endorsed the title of Asiwaju Yoruba of Ghana for Chief Alhaji Musa Baba in their first meeting in Kumasi.

All Yoruba Oba's in Ghana present were delighted for the fruitful first council meeting that has resolved many confronting issues that has been hindering their Benefits of social cohesion.

According to the host of the council meeting Oba Yoruba of Ashanti region, HRM chief Oba Rufai Alao said the only way forward is for all Regional Yoruba Oba's to rule over their people independently in their Regional capacity without interference which was accepted by all 13 Oba's of Yoruba in Ghana.

A Yoruba elder and a veteran, 3 three Times journalist of the year in Ghana, and the most honored Journalist in Ghana history, Alhaji Razak El- Alawa was the chairman of the maiden meeting of the council of Yoruba chiefs who guided them for a successful meeting and peaceful coexistence.
