Coronavirus: Nigeria confirms 593 new cases, total cases surpass 50,000

The total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus cases in the country has now surpassed 50,000 following the announcement of 593 new cases on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the new cases were confirmed in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with Plateau state recording the highest number of cases.
Out of the 593 new cases announced, 186 were detected in Plateau state followed by Lagos, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria with 172 new cases.

The newly confirmed cases in other states:

Abuja - 62

Oyo - 27

Delta - 25

Rivers - 20

Ondo - 19

Edo - 18

Kaduna - 17

Enugu - 12

Akwa-Ibom - 10

Ogun - 7

Abia - 6

Gombe - 6

Kano - 3

Osun - 3

However, a total of 39,304 patients have recovered from the virus.
