Coronavirus: Aid workers in Borno told to work from home

Aid workers in some humanitarian organisations in Borno State have been told to work from home with effective from Monday following the spike in cases of COVID-19 in some states.

Scores of aid workers were seen returning home on Monday morning a few hours after their resumption in their offices.

"Two hours after resuming today in the office for the week, we were told to go home and work from homes," an aid worker told Daily Sun on condition of anonymity.

The source said other international NGOs providing humanitarian services in the state have also given the same directive to their workers

A senior staff in one of the INGOs not authorised to speak to newsmen disclosed that the move was to forestall the spread of COVID-19 with more confirmed cases already reported in some states.

Borno has a total of 880 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since April when it recorded its first case.

An update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday shoes there are 22,834 active cases of Coronavirus out of the 121,566 confirmed cases including 2,504. A total of 964 new cases were recorded over the weekend with Lagos still having the highest cases.
