Coronavirus: 684 out of 14,906 Nigerian evacuees tested positive - FG

Chariman of the Presidential Task Force on coronavirus, Mr. Boss Mustapha has revealed that 684 evacuees have tested positive for the virus.

Mr. Mustapha made this known at the committee's media briefing in Abuja.

According to him, 14,906 people have been evacuated so far from over ten different countries while 13,844 evacuees have undergone coronavirus test out of which 684 evacuees tested positive.

He further added that more stranded Nigerians will be evacuated from different countries as the country continues to extend hands of assistance to its citizens abroad.

“It may interest you to note that of the 14,906 evacuees received during this COVID-19 pandemic, close to 80 per cent are youths for which we are glad that only 684 tested positive to the Coronavirus out of the 13,844 so far tested.

“In the coming days, we hope to receive more evacuees from different parts of the world,” Mustapha said.

The PTF chairman, however, warned that the drop in the Covid-19 case nationally should never be misconstrued as the victory over the virus.

Nigeria presently has 48,116 confirmed coronavirus cases with an impressive figure of 34,309 recoveries.

Meanwhile, 966 deaths have been recorded as the country still continues to occupy its place behind South Africa and Egypt on the continental level.
