Confusion as PDP, LP agents insist on taking photos of election materials before voting begin

Agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) have been reported to have insisted on taking photos of all election materials before the commencement of the election in the Karu local government area of Nasarawa state.

Speaking in an interview with Legit.ng, this move was given by their parties following the incidents that occurred in the February 25 presidential election.

A PDP agent revealed that they do not trust the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC hence their decision to capture all materials before they begin.

Bulus Hasana said, "We don't trust INEC again. We want to take the photos now and after voting incase of any mutilation, we can present it as evidence to our leaders.

"We have learnt from the last experience of the last time, we don't want to victims of any kind of manipulation again."

The Labour Party agent was of the view that the rigging starts before the voting process, "I am insisting on it because that is what we were told at our party headquarters.

"Sometimes, the rigging starts even before voting. So, we want to block all loopholes for this process to be hijacked.

"Also, what we are asking for is not against the Electoral law. As party agents, we have the right to insist on this and I can assure you that it is within the ambit of the law."

However, a visit to some polling units, the agents are allowed to take photos of the materials, Legit.ng said.

"We have no problem with it. If it is what they want, it is not an issue," an electoral official said.
