Reports indicate that security operatives confronted members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiite who were holding a procession in Abuja.

The Shiite processing is known to have been banned in Abuja, however, members took to the streets to embark on their annual Arbaeen Symbolic Trek, an annual religious practice to mark the 40th day of the murder of Inam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammed killed on 10th Muharram.

Members held placards with pictures of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky as they walked the streets causing a gridlock in Gwarimpa, along the Kubwa Expressway.

A video making rounds showed residents running at the hearing of the shots been fired.
