Coming generations will have to pay the current debt being incurred - Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has shared his thoughts on the rising debt being incurred in African countries especially Nigeria.

According to Obasanjo, Former President Muhammadu Buhari was fortunate to have the debts written off for the country despite his mismanagement.

The former President noted that it would be almost impossible for any administration to get similar gesture.

Obasanjo made this known during the 2023 awardees of the Future Africa Leaders Foundation, an initiative of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

He stated that debt is a trap that no individual or nation should fall into as it constitutes a burden on any economy.

Obasanjo blamed the leaderships for the situation of the African countries, saying “coming generations will have no choice but pay the current debt being incurred by different countries in the continent.”
