Claims Buhari is a clone is nonsense - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described as 'nonsense' claims suggesting President Muhammadu Buhari is a clone as believed by some Nigerians.

The former head of state ridiculed the assertions by people who assume that President Buhari is dead and has been replaced by a Sudanese.

According to him, the Nigerian leader is known to have some flaws in understanding the economy which affects his style of leadership.

In an interview on Sunday, January 31, 2021, Obasanjo said "I thought I knew President Buhari because he worked with me. But I used to ask people, is it that I have not read him well or read him adequately or is it that he has changed from the Buhari that I used to know?

"I am not subscribing to the people who say we have a new Buhari from Sudan and all that nonsense."

After President Buhari returned to Nigeria in 2017, after seeking treatment in the United Kingdom, rumours emerged that the president was dead. This allegation spread like wide fire with some saying he has been replaced with a clone from Sudan.

However, former president Obasanjo is convinced President Buhari is still the same person, having worked with him in previous administration.
