President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season to promote peace, love and unity across the country, urging other faiths to join in the celebration of Christ.
Akpabio made the call in his Christmas message to Nigerians, particularly Christians, as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The message was signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
He said Christmas should be a period of love, kindness and generosity.
The Senate President urged Nigerians to extend a helping hand to the less privileged in society.
According to him, the life of Jesus Christ remains an example of peace, love and selflessness, which all Nigerians should emulate.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate and the entire 10th National Assembly, I wish to heartily rejoice with our Christian faithful on this joyful occasion of Christmas,” Akpabio said.
He also encouraged Nigerians of other faiths to join in the celebration.
“And to our brothers and sisters of other faiths, I invite you to join us in celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. I urge you all to exude love throughout this period and beyond. Let’s tolerate one another and strive to be every other brother’s keeper,” he added.
The Senate President further called on Nigerians not to lose hope despite the challenges facing the country.
He noted that resilience and unity remain key to national progress.
He prayed for peace, unity and continued development in Nigeria, while expressing confidence in the direction of the country under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Akpabio said Nigeria is heading in the right direction and urged citizens to continue supporting the government for a better future.
