Chrisland School Sextape: What we know so far

The viral sex tape purported to be pupils of Chrisland school in Lagos has generated the conversation on who is responsible for the behavioral changes in children during their formative years.

Social media was sent into overdrive when six students of the elite school were caught on camera engaging in sexual intercourse while they were in Dubai for a sporting event.

While their names haven't been identified at the time of filing this report, the involvement of a 13-year-old girl in the act has sparked a conversation on social media. The girl who is clearly a minor (name withheld) was spotted in the video engaged in the popular sex skill known as cowgirl.

Since the video went viral, the hashtags cowgirl, she is 13, Truth or Dare and Chrisland have topped the trends intermittently in Nigeria as social media analysts, critics and commentators have shelved more pressing national issues to discuss the reasons behind the act, the act itself, while others render solutions to halt the occurrences.

The conversation on the quality of the educational system has also been brought to question. The values children and teenagers learn in their formative years have also been questioned in the wake of social media. Bad parenting has been blamed on how children turn-out.

Popular actress, Tonto Dikeh has been dragged into the conversation after an old video of her son, Andre Omodayo Churchill smacking her buttocks unprovoked and resurfaced.

While the conversation is building thick and fast, this is what we know so far

April 18 - Popular socialite, Ubi Frankin, on his official Instagram account, posted a video of a woman who cried out to Nigerians for help after discovering that her child was ‘raped’ during a school trip to Dubai, organised by Chrisland Schools.

Ubi franklin on his Twitter wrote: “Just got off the phone with a friend of mine. His 10-year daughter old was selected to represent the school at the World School Game in Dubai. His daughter was raped by her fellow student, videotaped it and posted on Instagram and the school concealed it for a month.

“He found out on his own when another parent called his wife and showed his wife the video of her 10 year old daughter.”

The sex tape of the school’s students in sexual acts, which has gone viral, has generated different reactions. Some people blamed bad parenting, while others stereotyped. The parents who entrusted their kids to the school or the school?

A statement from the government amid controversy over the issue, involving some pupils of the school taken on a trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), said the matter was being investigated.

“In the meantime, all Chrisland Schools within Lagos State are hereby closed, pending further investigations,” the government said.

The full statement read, “The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to the alleged sexual violence case involving students of Chrisland Schools which occurred in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

April 18 The student in question was suspended indefinitely for engaging in illicit sexual affair after the viral clip. In a statement by Chrisland School authorities dated April 14, 2022 to the girl’s parent, she was the ringleader of the truth-or-dare game held in Dubai.

“In line with our core values centered on discipline, Chrisland Schools have zero tolerance for any improper behavior and misconduct,” the school said in a letter signed by its principal Georgia Azike.

The school disclosed that other schoolmates who took part in the game had been suspended, adding that the girl and her parents did not cooperate during its investigation.

Recall, Nigeria had reported the viral sex tape of a 10-year-old female student of the school who was allegedly raped by fellow students during a trip to Dubai, UAE.

The incident reportedly happened when the students traveled to Dubai to participate in the World School Games from March 10 to 13, where the school won over 30 medals.

April 19 - Chrisland distanced itself from sexual violation and pregnancy test allegations.

The school and its pupils have been trending since Easter Sunday over a sexual-related violation involving minors.

On Tuesday, Akin Fadeyi, a member of the institution’s advisory committee in a statement, denied claims that students under their watch were raped and one underwent a pregnancy test without the consent of the parent.

The alleged sexual violation happened when a delegation of Chrisland School was in Dubai in March to take part in the World School Games, a four-day annual competition with schools from all over the world.

In a viral video, the mother of the female minor narrated how the school concealed the matter from her. She claimed that they took her daughter for a pregnancy test without her consent.

“We are proud to reassure our stakeholders that no rape of anyone or the administration of a pregnancy test on any child took place on our watch,” Mr Fadeyi said.

“For emphasis, only a COVID post-travel test was conducted on the returning delegation of our students, in compliance with COVID-19 travel protocols, at the Life Centre Medical Services on March 21, 2022, at School Hall, Opebi.
