COVID-19 tests should only be announced by NCDC - Shehu Sanni

Former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has opined that all test announcements for COVID-19 should be done by none else but the Nigeria Center for Disease Control - NCDC.

As of Monday night, 20 new cases of coronavirus were reported by the NCDC, taking the total to 343 infections nationwide.

Shehu Sani's comment comes in hours after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) announced the extension of the Lagos, Abuja and Ogun lockdown by two-weeks to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Commenting on his official Twitter account, the former lawmaker said:

"The test for #COVID19 should be decentralized but the disclosure or announcement should be centralized by the @NCDCgov; or else we shall be showered with bogus or exaggerated figures from the states. This is not a national league table."
