Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has left many shocked after he campaigned for candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a video he shared on X, El-Rufai urged citizens of Kaduna to vote for two SDP candidates in Saturday's bye-election in the state.
He made the appeal despite the SDP banning him from the party. His actions also go against the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party he has been affiliated with since the SDP banned him.
He said, "I making this message to appeal to all our voters in Zaria and Sabon Gari local governments to come out in massive numbers on Saturday to vote for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the party with the symbol of a white stallion, for the Zaria state assembly constituency and Basawa constituency in Sabon Gari local government.
"The candidates are Nuhu Abdullahi Sada of the SDP for Zaria and Danbala Usman of the SDP for Basawa constituency. Please, come out and vote massively for these two candidates."
